For the past six years, the University of Notre Dame Men’s Rugby team has played the University of Arizona in an annual match called the Parseghian Cup. The team’s come together each year do the relationship the Parseghian family has with the Notre Dame family and the Tucson, AZ community (home to the Arizona Wildcats). The universities take turns hosting the event, and this year, the Parseghian Cup was held on October 12, 2018 at Stinson Rugby Field on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
It was a cold and rainy day, and both teams played hard. Congratulations to Notre Dame for their 26-12 victory over the Arizona. Thank you to Arizona to making the trip across the country to join us in this special event. And thanks to those that braved the weather to cheer on the Irish!
After the match, the teams and supporters of the Parseghian Fund attended a special dinner to hear from the Rugby Coaches as well as Cindy Parseghian about the Parseghian family’s greatest fight off the field: to find a cure for Niemann-Pick Type C disease. Additionally, we were honored by remarks from Pam Andrews, Co-founder of the Firefly Fund and parent to Abby and Belle, two children with NPC disease.
Thank you to all that attended and for your continued support to find a cure for NPC disease.
